In order to avoid any mishap during the high-profile India vs Pakistan clash in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, the security agencies are taking no risk.

The arch-rivals are set to lock horns against each other on Sunday (June 9) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Ahead of the clash, the security measures at the stadium have been heightened following the threat issued by ISIS. The threat was issued by the same militant group that had claimed responsibility for the attack in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall in March, killing at least 143 people earlier this year.

Unsurprisingly, there are concerns over security ahead of the game between India and Pakistan but the officials are taking every possible step to avoid any mishap. Recently, reports stated that there will be snipers all around the venue to keep a close eye on the proceedings.

Apart from that, the local authorities have also stated that they will be collaborating with other agencies such as the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and US Customs and Border Protection to ensure that proper security is provided to the players and the fans in the stadium.

"The scale and magnitude of the security for this India-Pakistan match will be more compared to when we hosted the USA President Barack Obama some years ago," said Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, as quoted by NDTV.

India, Pakistan gear up for crucial clash:

The upcoming game is of huge importance for both teams, especially Pakistan. With the USA winning their first two games including one against Pakistan, there is a chance of an upset in the group. Not very long ago, it was expected that India and Pakistan would easily progress ahead of the group stage.

However, things are completely different now and none of the teams can afford more slip ups. India started their campaign with an 8-wicket win over Ireland and a win over Pakistan will all but secure their passage to the Super 8s. On the other hand, Pakistan suffered a defeat against the USA and another loss will deal a huge blow to their chances of making it to the next stage.
