Former India bowler Munaf Patel has hit back at Shoaib Akhtar over a recent post that the latter posted on X (formerly Twitter). Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad, the former Pakistani pacer decided to motivate the Pakistani players in his own style.

He posted a photo of the famous 1999 Eden Gardens Test between India and Pakistan. Shoaib Akhtar, who is widely regarded as one of the fastest bowlers of all time, had stunned the crowd by castling Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar with consecutive unplayable deliveries.

He first dismissed Dravid for 24 with a toe-crushing yorker and uprooted the leg stump. And on the very next delivery, Shoaib Akhtar uprooted Tendulkar’s middle stump with another swinging yorker. He posted a photo of him celebrating that famous wicket and wrote: “Kal agar asa kuch kerna hai, toh #ThankRakh (if you want to do something like this tomorrow then stay chilled)

And it did not take the fans long to hit back at Shoaib Akhtar for his post. Munaf Patel also decided to join the bandwagon and hit back at the ex-Pakistan pacer with a fitting post. The 2011 World Cup-winning pacer posted a photo from the match between India and Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup when Tendulkar had famously played an uppercut against Akhtar for a six and had gone on to score 98.

India and Pakistan renew rivalry:

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan have renewed their celebrated World Cup rivalry on Saturday (October 14) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. At the time of compiling this report, Pakistan were on 16 for no loss in the third over.

Both India and Pakistan have started their campaigns with two wins from as many games. Pakistan defeated the Netherlands in their opening game before beating Sri Lanka. India, on the other hand, began with a six-wicket win over Australia before defeating Afghanistan by 8 wickets.
