Former India player, Saba Karim spoke on Prasidh Krishna’s return from injury and said that it would give Rohit Sharma an extra option of pacer during the upcoming tournaments.

While speaking to Jio Cinema, Saba Karim said that India have a very strong bowling attack which will help Rohit Sharma choose.

The former player added that if Mohammed Siraj fails to make a mark then Krishna can come in the first eleven.

“Very strong pace bowling component now. This has opened up a number of opportunities for Rohit Sharma. If he wants to go in with three genuine quicks, he can get in Mohammed Siraj as the third seamer. In case Siraj is not bowling well, you can bring in Prasidh Krishna,” Saba Karim said.

Saba Karim added that the 27-year-old’s comeback in the squad will help the skipper as well as add more attack in the Indian pace bowling.

“With Prasidh Krishna getting fit, it really opens up a number of possibilities for Rohit Sharma but also adds to the striking force of the Indian pace bowling contingent,” the 55-year-old added.

Saba Karim further added that the Indian bowling attack has two excellent pacers, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. The Men in Blues will also have Mohammed Siraj and the 27-year-old as their backups.

“You have Mohammed Shami, a strike bowler par excellence. Then you have Jasprit Bumrah, we have seen what he is capable of doing. Plus, in backup, if you have someone like Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, it just goes to show that this is a complete kind of pace bowling attack,” Saba Karim further added.

During India’s last ODI tour to Zimbabwe in August 2022, Prasidh Krishna suffered a lumbar injury which forced the player to take part in any competitive cricket and was at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to continue his recovery with Jasprit Bumrah, who was also injured since last year.

Both Krishna and Jasprit Bumrah made a return to the squad during the three-match T20I series against Ireland where Krishna took four wickets in the first two matches.

Now, the 27-year-old pacer has been included in the Asia Cup 2023 squad and will travel to Sri Lanka with Rohit Sharma’s side.

India will take on Pakistan in their first match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2nd) and the match will take place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
