Former Pakistani cricketer, Ramiz Raja took a dig at Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma before they lock horns against Pakistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup 2023. Ramiz Raja said that India is struggling to find the right combination before the start of the Continental Cup.

Rohit Sharma-led India have suffered a few injury problems in the last couple of months which forced them to play without their regular starters like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah.

However, all three have been included in the Asia Cup 2023 squad but KL Rahul will not take part in the first two matches of the tournament since he suffered another niggle after recovering from his thigh injury.

On the other hand, Pakistan is confident before they take on India since they are currently the number one ODI team, and also the Men in Green’s skipper, Babar Azam is the number one ODI batsman.

The Men in Green are recently at their top form as before the start of the tournament they thrashed Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series and started their Asia Cup 2023 voyage after beating Nepal by 238 runs.

They haven’t succeeded in producing a settled unit: Ramiz Raja

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Ramiz Raja said that Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid’s side are yet to find a right and settled first eleven.

Ramiz Raja stated that the Men in Blues are changing a winning first eleven for no reason. The former player said that they want to experiment with the batting but the team management’s focus is on something else.

“India might be a little rusty, they are still searching for the right combination. The one big reason for that is even in the World Cup year, they haven’t succeeded in producing a settled unit.

“I’m actually shocked that they are tinkering unnecessarily with a winning combination, they experiment with batting order and the focus moves to something else,” Ramiz Raja said.

Raja added people still have doubts regarding India’s first eleven since they are changing so much with their playing eleven, and Pakistan will get the advantage of it.

“If you ask anyone about Pakistan’s playing XI, he will tell you without much of a thought. But if you ask someone about India’s XI, there are still doubts. And this might benefit Pakistan,” Ramiz Raja added.

Rohit Sharma-led India will lock horns against Babar Azam’s Pakistan on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The match will begin at 3:00 PM IST.
