Former India wicketkeeper-batter, Robin Uthappa heaped praise on Kuldeep Yadav after his five-wicket haul against Pakistan on Monday (September 11th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and said that he has improved a lot in the last few months.

The third Super Fours match between India and Pakistan was held for two days after the game was stopped on Sunday (September 10th) due to heavy rain and shifted to the reserve day. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, the Indian openers started the inning on a great note which helped the Men in Blue to dominate the game from the very first moment.

The Gill-Rohit duo made a solid partnership of 121 runs. Shubman Gill scored 58 runs from 52 balls with a strike rate of 111.54. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma played a 56-run knock in 49 balls with a strike rate of 114.29. After the Indian openers were dismissed, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took control of the match and led India to 356 runs.

Virat Kohli scored 122 runs from 94 balls with a strike rate of 129.79. Whereas, KL Rahul played a 111-run knock from 106 balls with a strike rate of 104.72 in his first competitive match after the thigh injury that he received during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

In the first inning, the Pakistani bowling failed to dismiss the set batsmen from the crease. Only Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan managed to take one wicket each.

In the second inning, Kuldeep Yadav displayed a stupendous inning and led the Indian bowling attack after he picked up five wickets in his eight-over spell and gave away 25 runs.

Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each in the second inning to help India clinch a 228-run victory.

No Pakistani players could score a half-century and even the number-one ODI batsman, Babar Azam failed to make a mark in front of the Indian bowling attack.

The last time India took on Pakistan in the third group match of the Asia Cup was on Saturday (September 2nd), however, the game was cancelled without any result as rain played spoilsport during the inning break.

During that match, the Indian batting order suffered in front of the Pakistani bowling attack but in the Super Fours, Men in Blue outperformed Babar Azam’s side.

Just an absolute treat to watch: Robin Uthappa on Kuldeep Yadav

Robin Uthappa took to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account and lauded the star Indian spinner and said that it is a treat to watch Kuldeep Yadav play.

“@imkuldeep18 is possibly the most improved cricketer I’ve seen in the recent past!! Just an absolute treat to watch,” the former India player wrote.
