India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma was delighted with the performance of his team in the blockbuster ICC World Cup 2023 clash against Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India National Cricket Team crushed the Pakistan National Cricket Team by 7 wickets with 117 balls to spare to extend their winning streak in 50-over World Cups against Pakistan to 8-0.

Bowling first, they bundled out the Men In Green for 191 and while chasing the target, Rohit Sharma smashed a sensational 86 runs and played a key role in India completing the run-chase in 30.3 overs.

Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma credited his bowlers for setting up the game for India. He said that his role as a skipper is very important in utilizing his bowling resources on a given day. He said:

“The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190-pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job.”

Don’t want to get too excited – Rohit Sharma

India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma added that they had a clear plan heading into the World Cup and they weren’t confused.

“It’s only because the guys – before entering the WC – they got a lot of runs. We were very clear about what we wanted to do. Didn’t want to be in two minds about who’s going to bat where. All in all, it’s looking good,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit Sharma signed off by saying that they don’t want to get too excited after the victory and want to stay in a balanced space

“Want to keep my fingers crossed. Don’t want to get too excited. Don’t want to get too low as well. Want to stay balanced. Keep calm and keep moving forward. Every opposition we come up against are all quality. You have to play well on that particular day, and that’s what we’re looking at,” Rohit Sharma said.

With the victory over Pakistan, the Men In Blue registered their third consecutive win in the tournament and have climbed to the top spot on the points table with a net run rate of +1.821.
