IND vs PAK: Shaheen Afridi Reveals His Game Plan For India's Batsmen Ahead Of High-Voltage Clash

Pakistan pace Shaheen Afridi has revealed his game plan for the Indian batsmen ahead of the high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The much-awaited clash between the arch-rivals is scheduled to take place on Saturday (September 2) in Pallekele.

Pakistan will be riding high on confidence after starting their campaign in the tournament with a huge win over Nepal. The Men in Green thrashed the tournament debutants by 238 runs to get their campaign underway in style. India, on the other hand, is yet to play a game in Asia Cup 2023 and will be opening their campaign against Pakistan.

With many believing that the India vs Pakistan clash will be decided by the battle between India’s batters and Pakistan’s bowlers, Shaheen Afridi is set to play a decisive role. One of the best bowlers in the world at present, the Pakistan star has been a menace to face, especially with the new ball in his hand.

The last time Shaheen Afridi faced India which was in the T20 World Cup, he had failed to pick up any wicket. But in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the left-arm pacer had blown India’s top order away by dismissing KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in his first two overs before dismissing Suryakumar Yadav too inside the powerplay.

He has also started the Asia Cup campaign in a similar fashion. In the first game against Nepal, the pacer picked up two wickets in the very first over and would be eyeing something similar against India too. And ahead of the game against the arch-rivals, Shaheen Afridi has said that his game plan will be his usual tactic of picking wickets with the new ball.

“In my opinion, my game plan is simple, every opener knows my game plan. The goal is to, as always, get the openers out to put pressure on the batting team. The middle order when they come in are not used to playing against the new ball as much as an opener. So there is a lot of pressure on the middle order to face the new ball,” Shaheen Afridi said on Star Sports.
