Star India opener, Shubman Gill opened up on India’s aim in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 and said that the most important goal for the Men in Blue is to win the forthcoming extravaganza tournament.

In the third Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2023, Shubman Gill played a stellar 58-run knock after opening the first inning with Rohit Sharma, who also scored 56 runs from 49 balls with a strike rate of 114.29. Unfortunately, the match was stopped after 24.1 overs as rain washed off the game.

However, the much-anticipated match will resume on the reserve day on Monday (September 11th) at 3:00 PM IST.

Recently, Shubman Gill has been criticized by many cricket pundits for his poor performance in the West Indies series, but the player gave a solid reply to them after smashing 10 fours against the Pakistani pace attack in the Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2023.

While speaking on Disney+ Hotstar, Shubman Gill said that winning the ODI World Cup 2023 is the most important goal for him as an individual.

Shubman Gill also said that he was young when India won the World Cup in 2011. The youngster also added that his main motive is to read the conditions swiftly and get hand on all the positions.

As a batsman, it is critical to quickly access to the position and understand the speed: Shubman Gill

Shubman said that it is important for a player to switch mentality quickly based on which cricket format they are playing.

“As a batsman, it is critical to quickly access to the position and understand the speed. So the planning and play are all based on that. Mindset plays an important role as one has to switch mentally, like from an ODI mentality to a T20 one.

“The faster you switch, the faster your body adapts; thus, I believe being able to mentally switch is important,” he added.
