IND vs PAK: "The GOAT" - Fans Praise Virat Kohli For Spectacular Ton vs Pakistan In Asia Cup 2023

The 34-year-old India National Cricket Team batting maestro Virat Kohli played a fantastic knock in Match No.3 of the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four stage against Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Monday, September 11.

On Sunday, only 24.1 overs were possible due to the rain, and the match was pushed to the reserve day on Monday. After being invited to bat first, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill decimated the strong Pakistan bowling unit and added 121 runs for the opening wicket.

After the openers got out in successive overs, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul joined forces to take India to 147/2 and the match was called off for the day. Rahul and Kohli were unbeaten at 17 and 8 as the day ended.

Virat Kohli started off the day cautiously, but his intent was quite positive. He respected the good deliveries and made sure to launch poor deliveries past the boundary line. The 34-year-old raced towards his half-century off 55 balls and his innings consisted of 4 fours.

Virat Kohli then accelerated and smashed the bowlers all over the park. His strike rate went past 100 in no time and he completed his marvelous ton off 84 balls, with 6 fours and 2 sixes. After completing the ton, Kohli didn’t look back and just kept getting better as he finished his innings with an unbeaten 122 off 94 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Kohli also achieved several records after his sensational performance against Pakistan which helped India post 356/2 on the board. He has become the fastest player in history to hit 13000 runs in ODIs, breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli has equalled Ricky Ponting in the elite list of most fifty-plus scores in ODIs as he has registered those scores as many as 112 times. Virat Kohli has also completed 14000 runs at No.3 in international cricket and is the fastest to do so.
