IND vs PAK: "Their Hunger To Score Runs For The Country" - Wahab Riaz On Similarity Between Virat Kohli And Babar Azam

Former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz opened up about the similarity between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. He said that their hunger to score runs for their country sets them apart from other players in the world.

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam will be up against each other as India and Pakistan will face against each other on 2nd September in the Asia Cup 2023 clash. The two modern greats will hold a key role for their respective teams and a lot would be relying on them.

Virat Kohli has been the backbone of the Indian team for the last decade and is right up in the comparison with many greats of the game. Babar Azam on the other hand has been carrying the loading of Pakistan’s batting lineup ever since he made the debut for the team.

Wahab Riaz talked about Virat Kohli, saying that he was a funky guy till the U19 World Cup. But after sharing a dressing room with Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and MS Dhoni, he changed his work ethic. Speaking to Zalmi TV, he explained:

“I feel a similarity is their hunger to score runs for the country. Virat was initially a funky guy who had come from the U19 World Cup. But then the way he changed his work ethic, shared the dressing room with stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, and managed to make a name for himself speaks volumes about his hunger.”

Wahab Riaz also pointed out the difference between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, saying that the Indian batter has scored more centuries in winning cause. He explained:

“Babar’s hunger for runs keeps on increasing with the more he scores. The one difference I feel is that most of Virat’s hundreds have come in winning cause and he has played for 10-15 years. If Babar continues the way he is playing, I don’t think it will be difficult for him to reach the level that Virat is at today.”

It remains to be seen who among Babar Azam and Virat Kohli will score the most runs in the upcoming much-anticipated game between India and Pakistan.
