Former Pakistan skipper, Wasim Akram gave a most awaited weather update from Kandya before the start of the most anticipated match of the Asia Cup 2023 and said that there is light drizzle happening but the weather is likely to get clear before the start of the match.

Babar Azam-led Pakistan are coming into this match after thrashing Nepal by 238 runs in the inaugural match of the tournament at Multan International Stadium.

In the first innings, Pakistan went to bat first and gave a target of 343 runs after Babar Azam played a 151-run knock from 131 balls with a strike rate of 115.27. Iftikhar Ahmed also played a stellar inning and scored 109 runs from 71 balls.

In the second inning of the match, the Pakistani bowling successfully defended the target and dismissed Nepal at 104 runs by the 24th over. Shadab Khan took four wickets in his 6.4 over spell and gave away 27 runs. Shaheen Afridi again proved why he is considered the best pacer with the new ball after he scalped two wickets in the first over. Haris Rauf too picked two wickets.

On the other hand, India will start their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan and will try to clinch a win in their first match of the tournament.

India will be hopeful in the Asia Cup since Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah who all have been injured for a long returned to the squad to give relief to the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma.

Wasim Akram shared a video on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account and gave a much-awaited weather update to the fans who all have been waiting to get a proper update.

While speaking on the video, Wasim Akram said that he has been staying one hour away from the stadium and there is light drizzle taking place and added that maybe the weather is different around the stadium.

“Many people are asking me about the weather in Kandy. Where I’m staying, there’s a drizzle with cloud cover. But you can see that the weather is clearing. The ground is one hour away from here. Maybe, the weather is different there,” Wasim Akram said in the video.

The former Pakistani player reminded the fans of the two countries that it is sporting and someone will win and lose in the match and they need to enjoy it.

“All the best to both teams. And remember, it’s just a match. Someone will win and someone will lose. Enjoy good cricket,” Wasim Akram added.

India will square off against Pakistan to start their Asia Cup 2023 campaign on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The game will kick off at 3:00 PM IST.
