India National Cricket Team vice-captain and champion all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, got a big breakthrough for his side as he bamboozled the Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam with an absolute ripper at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Monday, September 11.
Batting first, India posted a mammoth total of 356/2 on the board, thanks to the remarkable performance from the top 4 batters. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill hit brilliant fifties and stitched together 121 runs. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul bettered the performance of openers and hit sensational tons while adding 233 runs.
Chasing the target, the No.1 ranked ODI batter Babar Azam was expected to play a good knock for his side, but it didn’t happen. The batter looked scratchy initially and got out after playing a poor knock of 10 runs off 24 balls, with 2 fours.
Babar was dismissed by Hardik on the fourth ball of the 11th over, which was an absolute corker. Hardik bowled a length ball on the off-stump that jagged in sharply and went between bat and pads to rattle the stumps. Babar was left stunned and Hardik and Virat Kohli were pumped up after the wicket. The delivery was lauded by fans and experts with many labeling it as a magical delivery.

Jasprit Bumrah got the first breakthrough for India as he removed the in-form opener Imam-ul-Haq in the fifth over. He scored just 9 runs off 18 balls, before walking back to the hut.
Pakistan were at 44/2 in 11 overs before the rain interrupted the game and covers were brought in. Pakistan fans would be hoping that the match gets washed out as India and Pakistan will share 1 point each if no more play is possible tonight. Notably, a minimum of 20 overs are needed to be completed to bring the DLS into play.
“Barso re megha megha,” Shoaib Akhtar tweeted with the hope of rain saving Pakistan from a defeat at the hands of the Men In Blue.
