It was yet another loss for Team India in South Africa as they lost the IND vs SA 1st Test by an innings and 32 runs. Team India showcased an absolute surrender at the SuperSport Park as South Africa never allowed the visitors to enter the match.
India was wrapped up for 131 runs and just like the first innings, no other batter other than Virat Kohli showed fight as he was the last to fall for 76 runs. In the first innings, it was wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul, who ended up scoring a century.
While it was Kagiso Rabada, who was the main villain with the ball for India in the first innings, Nandre Burger and Marco Jansen shared seven wickets between them and scripted South Africa’s win. Rabada was also able to pick two wickets.
The Indian team was 62/3 at Tea on Day 3 and lost their last seven wickets for 69 runs when the play started after the break. The technique of the Indian batsmen was exposed in front of the Proteas pacers as they got out on their own mistakes.
At one end, Rohit Sharma was not able to play a beauty from Kagiso Rabada, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer played down the wrong line from Marco Jansen and lost their furniture.
Though, the credit also has to go to the South African batsmen who put up a splendid batting display. Starting from Dean Elgar to Marco Jansen, every batter contributed with the bat. At one end, Elgar scored a brilliant ton and got out for 185 runs, Jansen was unbeaten on 84 runs. Also, David Bedingham contributed with 56 runs.
The Indian team was never allowed to enter the match by the South African batsmen. The Proteas were playing without captain Temba Bavuma, but Dean Elgar’s brilliance never really let the Indian pacers build any type of pressure on the hosts.
IND vs SA: Netizens tears into Team India over shameless defeat against South Africa
The netizens were not happy with Team India’s performance during the first Test against South Africa and are coming up with different reactions on social media. Some of them are mentioned below:
In 2 inns combined, India batted lesser overs than SA did in 1 inns. SA batted 108.4 overs while India batted 101.5 overs. Completely abysmal batting in the 2nd innings, and I just hope that it doesn't take the focus away from the poor bowling by India.
And the trio of Siraj,…

Cool and hardy Dean Elgar already my Man Of The Series for his outstanding century on a tough wicket which ensured SA’s win and snuffed out India’s chances of conquering the Final Frontier. Great way to sign off from the sport!

Lost World Test Championship. Lost World Cup. Thankfully Asia Cup was not T20 format or would've lost that too.

Humiliating Defeat for Team India… couldn't even survive for three days… Poor team performance and even worse captaincy… Rohit with time is getting very uninspiring…No runs No captaincy #SAvsInd #RohitSharma

Being Virat Kohli is hard. Even after doing everything, he's still on the losing side.

Winning by an inns inside 3 days with weather interruptions doesn’t happen more often. Clinical this from the proteas. Clearly ahead in both batting and bowling departments. #INDvsSA

Sorry to say but some of these Indian youngsters, at least as of today, are not equipped to bat in trying conditions against top-class bowling. Mind you, this South African bowling wasn’t anywhere close to top-class. #INDvsSA

As if Virat Kohli is batting on a totally different pitch. Only needed one player to hold the other end. Sad. ?#INDvsSA

South Africa had a determined team and a better stand-in Captain. Pack-up of the final frontier in less than 3 days. India’s khoofiya practice match lasted longer. #INDvSA #SAvIND #INDvsSA

India has slid to the 5th position. It won’t be surprising if India fail to qualify for the WTC Finals.
