Yashasvi Jaiswal may not have impressed as a batter in the recently concluded Test series between India and South Africa but he caught everyone’s eyes with his catching in the slips. This was the first time for Yashasvi Jaiswal playing a Test series in any of the SENA countries. The young opener acknowledged the challenges that the tour had and took it as a learning experience for the future.

The Second Test between India and South Africa turned out to be the shortest Test match ever in the history of cricket. India won the Test at the Newlands in Cape Town to become the first Asian team to win a Test match in Cape Town. Indian Team made an epic comeback after losing the first test against South Africa by an innings and 32 runs to win the second Test by seven wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah starred in India’s victory against the Proteas.

Yashasvi Jaiswal talked about the movement of the ball in South Africa and how it was a challenge to tackle the seam movement on South African pitches. He tried to give his best and learned a lot from this series. Jaiswal also said that this experience will help him strive for improvement for upcoming challenges.

The ball comes differently here, and I tried giving my all, but I accept there were challenges,” said Jaiswal about the difficulties he faced while batting. “This experience will keep me in good stead as I am learning and will strive to improve during the next series.” Yashasvi Jaiswal is a talented youngster and has made his mark since a very young age.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Credits Rohit Sharma For Helping Him Keeping A Positive Frame Of Mind

Acknowledging the positive influence of skipper Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive frame of mind. “Rohit Sharma helps me maintain a positive frame of mind, and we needed to score runs quickly against the new ball,” he said. “I just wanted to give a good start, and that was all there in my mind as we had to win the match.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the few batters who scored a century on his Test debut which was in July 2023 against West Indies. Since then, he has been the first-choice opener for India in red-ball cricket and has been improving in the game. He alongside Rohit Sharma gives the deadly left-hand right-hand combination on the top of the order and helps to build pressure on the opponent.

India will now face England in a five-match Test series at home. The first Test of the series will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad starting from January 25. Before the Test series, the Men In Blue will be in action against Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series which commences on January 11 at Mohali. Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to feature in both the series and he will be looking to cement his place in the Indian team with some memorable performances.
