Former South African batter AB de Villiers expressed his delight over Quinton de Kock’s remarkable performance in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. AB de Villiers shared his admiration for Quinton de Kock, describing him as a “very special” player.
De Kock has displayed sensational batting form in the ongoing World Cup. He has amassed 545 runs with an outstanding average of 77.86 and a strike rate of 112.60. He has recorded four centuries, equaling the second-highest number of centuries in a single edition.
Quinton de Kock Has Had The Ability To Bounce Back – AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers highlighted Quinton de Kock‘s unique ability to consistently hit the ball on the up and maintain exceptional form. De Villiers emphasized de Kock’s resilience and capacity to bounce back despite occasional setbacks.
“He has always been very special to me since the very first day I watched him play. Quinnie showed that he was just a class above anyone else,” de Villiers said.
“I have never really seen anyone hit the ball on the up consistently like he does and he has always maintained that form. Yes, one or two failures here or there, but he has always had the ability to bounce back,” he added.
Earlier, the left-handed batter announced that the World Cup would be his final appearance for South Africa in ODI cricket. He disclosed that he made this decision to concentrate on his career in the shorter format of the game and to spend more time with his family.
He Has Got A Point To Prove – AB de Villiers
AB de Villiers was impressed with Quinton de Kock’s exceptional performance, describing it as the best he has ever seen from de Kock in a World Cup. He emphasized the importance of de Kock providing a solid start for South Africa in matches.
“I think it is the best I have ever seen him play in a World Cup. He certainly seems to be at home, he has got a point to prove and he looks calm while he is doing it.”
“South Africa needs him to give us that solid start as often as possible as it is really good for the middle over if we get that solid start,” de Villiers further added.
Quinton de Kock will be next seen in action when South Africa takes on the Indian team in their next match at the Eden Garden in Kolkata on Sunday November 5.
