India is playing their last T20 series against South Africa before the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. India won the second T20 International of a three-match T20 series against South Africa by 16 runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Sunday, October 2.

Suryakumar Yadav played brilliant innings of 61 runs off 22 balls and helped India to reach a big total of 237 for three in 20 overs. South Africa managed to score only 221 runs in the run chase with the help of David Miller’s unbeaten century of 106 runs off 47 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes.

Former South African fast bowler, Makhaya Ntini stated that the South African bowlers need to find line and length and bowl there to restrict Suryakumar Yadav from scoring runs against them.

Speaking on Cricinfo, Ntini said that the South African bowlers’ plan for the day did not work out and that the only option to restrict the inform batsmen was to find a length that worked for them.

“I’m thinking outside the box here and putting myself in those guys’ shoes. I think their plan didn’t come through and the only way I can restrict him from going hard on them is to find a length that is suitable for them. That I can be able to restrict him from scoring boundaries. But it didn’t happen at all.”

Makhaya Ntini said that the Proteas bowlers bowled at a length that gave Yadav enough time to decide on his shots and he compared Indian and South African bowlers.

“It is one of those things that you buy in one mindset. Say bowl outside off stump, find a good length. Because if I compare South Africa and Indian seamers especially when it comes to the first powerplay.

“The length that India has bowled. It was one of those good lengths where you are not sure if you should go straightaway because the ball is still swinging.

“From a South African point of view, they’re bowling in that seventh and eighth length that gives him more time to see where the ball is going to swing or go straight. That is one of the things I think for South African point of view, they need to identify the length that is important and they can be consistent and make sure that they don’t go for runs,” said Ntini.
