IND vs SA: Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian Batsman To Complete 11,000 Runs In T20 History

Virat Kohli became the first Indian to complete 11,000 runs in T20 cricket on Sunday. He achieved the milestone in the 2nd T20I of the series against South Africa at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Sunday.

The former Indian captain was 19 runs short of the milestone before this innings and reached the milestone with a stunning six-over long-off in Wayne Parnell’s bowling. He was the first Indian batsman to compete for 10,000 runs in T20 cricket and has now become the first Indian to score 11,000 runs.

Virat Kohli Becomes The Fast Batsman To Score 11,000 T20 Runs

Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 11,000 runs in T20 cricket and reached it in just 354 T20s. Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik have crossed the milestone before Virat. Gayle scored 14562 T20 runs, Pollard scored 11915 runs and Malik scored 11902 runs.

While the other three batsmen have represented multiple teams in their careers, Kohli has only represented India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi in T20 cricket. Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored 10544 runs in 399 matches while Shikhar Dhawan scored 9235 runs in 317 matches.

In the ongoing T20I series, India has scored a huge total of 237 runs. Kohli scored an unbeaten 49 off 28 balls with 7 fours and a six and put on a 102-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit Sharma (43) and KL Rahul (57) added 96 runs for the first wicket and gave India a good start. Suryakumar Yadav played an aggressive innings of 61 runs off 22 balls.
