Former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza made a controversial statement following a terrific bowling performance by Indian pacers against Sri Lanka. Hasan Raza suggested that the ICC should conduct an investigation into the balls used by the Indian bowlers in the event.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up during the 33rd match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The home team bundled out the opposition team for just 55 runs to register a mammoth 302-run victory.

ICC Should Investigate The Ball – Hasan Raza

Speaking to a Pakistan news channel, Hasan Raza expressed suspicions regarding the cricket balls used by Indian bowlers in the World Cup. He stated that the balls appeared to have an additional layer of hardness.

“The ball is swinging and bouncing extraordinarily by Indian bowlers. There seems to be extra hardness and layer on those balls. ICC should investigate the balls used by Indian bowlers in the World Cup,” said Hasan Raza, as quoted by a user on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Pathum Nissanka for a duck on the first ball of the innings. Mohammed Siraj also struck on his first ball to dismiss Dimuth Karunaratne. Siraj picked up the wicket of Sadeera Samarawickrama in the same over, restricting the team to 2/3.

Mohammed Shami picked up his second five-wicket haul in the ongoing tournament. Shami grabbed five wickets and conceded just 18 runs in his five overs. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Dilshan Madushanka in his first over to secure the victory in just 19.4 overs.

Our Bowling Is In Good Shape – Mohammed Shami

Speaking after receiving player of the match, Mohammed Shami expressed satisfaction with India’s bowling performance, highlighting their excellent rhythm and unity. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good form in a major tournament.

“Our bowling is in good shape and with the kind of rhythm (talking about the form of the pacers) that we are in, everyone is enjoying and everyone is happy for each other’s success and more importantly, we are bowling as a unit and that’s the result you are getting to see. I always try to bowl in good areas and be in good rhythm. In big tournaments, once the rhythm goes away, it’s very tough to get it back,” Shami said.
