Virat Kohli has had a terrific year with the bat. He was the highest run-getter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where he broke his idol’s Sachin Tendulkar’s record and amassed 765 runs in 11 innings which is the highest by any player in a single edition of the World Cup. Virat Kohli also got to his 50th ODI century to create another World record beating Sachin’s tally of 49 ODI hundreds.

Virat Kohli suffered a bad patch for three years as he was not in good form since 2020. However, he came back in form in 2023 and has been one of the most fearsome batters for the Indian team. Kohli has amassed 1377 runs in 2023 at an average of 72.47. He has smashed six centuries and eight half-centuries this year and has been in top form for India. He smashed three centuries and was the Player of the Tournament in the ODI World Cup.

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad lauded Virat Kohli for his performances in 2023 and considers 2023 as the best year for Virat Kohli, especially because it has come after his bad patch. Venkatesh Prasad also praised Kohli’s hunger and zeal and said that it was a true sign of a champion.

Venkatesh Prasad tweeted, “He has proved again that he is a champion and the best batsman of this generation, been a phenomenal year for him. Would rate this as his best year, especially since it had come after a couple of difficult years for him. That hunger and zeal was refreshing and a sign of the true champion that Virat is.”

Virat Kohli is one of the greatest ever to grace the game of cricket. He has shown true brilliance over the years and has been undoubtedly the World’s greatest batter. 2023 would be a memorable year for Virat Kohli as he broke a lot of records this year and was at his best in all forms. With the fitness he has and the amount of hard work he put in, he will likely be playing in the World Cup in 2027.

Venkatesh Prasad is right about his analysis of Virat Kohli as he is the best batsman of this generation and he has been playing his way to the records for a decade now. The former Indian skipper was one of the best when it came to Tests and after he stepped down from the captain’s role in Tests, India have struggled, especially in the overseas conditions.

This year has been a year of reconstruction for Virat Kohli as he had a bit of a bad patch for the past two years. He announced his comeback this year and now he is hungry for more.
