During India’s net session ahead of Day 1 of the 2nd test against South Africa at Cape Town, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah was having a fun moment with fellow teammate Ravichandran Ashwin as Bumrah imitated Aswhin’s famous off-spin bowling action.

The video was uploaded on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the 2-match Freedom Trophy test series. Jasprit Bumrah would perfectly mimic Ashwin’s action right from his run-up to the follow through, he carried it out in an end-to-end manner.

While the right-arm pacer was doing so, Ashwin watched him over as he stood near the stumps. After the follow-through, Jasprit Bumrah also enacted the off-spinner’s famous reaction by putting his right arm to his chin before spreading his arms wide just as Ashwin would do while appealing to the umpire.

For a fact, Bumrah’s imitation of Ashwin looked very identical so much so that Star Sports was forced to caption the video, “Hey Ash is that you?” Before claiming that Jasprit Bumrah can fool anybody with his imitation of Ashwin’s action.

“@Jaspritbumrah93 could fool anybody with this uncanny imitation of @ashwinravi99 in the #TeamIndia nets! Name another bowler you’d love to see the pacer mimic.” – Star Sports wrote.

Jasprit Bumrah Starts While Ashwin And Shardul Make Way For Jadeja And Mukesh

Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur have been asked to sit at the dugout following their ordinary performances in the 1st test which India lost by an innings and 32 runs. Ashwin has been replaced by Ravindra Jadeja who suffered a back spasm before the start of Day 1 at Centurion while Shardul Thakur makes way for Mukesh Kumar whose sole test appearance came last July at West Indies.

Jasprit Bumrah as usual is going to lead the bowling line-up consisting of Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Mukesh Kumar. Rohit Sharma will be hoping that Siraj, Krishna, and Mukesh can take some pressure off Jasprit Bumrah who was the sole performer in the 1st test by picking up 4 important wickets.

Meanwhile, the report from Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground is that South African Captain Dean Elgar who is filling in for injured Temba Bavuma, have elected to bat first. Elgar is playing his farewell test match at Cape Town and he is coming in with some positive momentum after scoring 185 at Centurion.

However, the Southpaw’s final match did not start well as he became the 2nd scalp already for Mohammad Siraj in the 6th over, just 2 overs after Aiden Markram departed for 2 off 10. Jasprit Bumrah is also trying to surmount pressure on South Africa from the other hand with the Proteas currently at 10-2.
