India suffered a massive defeat against South Africa in the first Test which was played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Rohit Sharma failed in both the innings falling to Kagiso Rabada who got him out for the 14th time in his career. Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut in the match but failed to create an impact with the ball as he went for 93 runs and could only get one wicket. Mukesh Kumar is likely to replace him in the second Test.

Recently, in Team India’s practice session, Mukesh Kumar was seen bowling to Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and asking him for some insights on his bowling. Mukesh Kumar made his Test debut back in July against West Indies. He took four wickets in his debut and is a good replacement for Prasidh Krishna if the team management decides to make some changes in the second Test.

Ahead of the first Test, the likes of Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar were in favor of playing Mukesh Kumar as the third specialist pacer but the team management went ahead with Prasidh Krishna. The decision backfired heavily as Prasidh Krishna ended with a shabby figure of 1/93. Mukesh Kumar can be a great choice for the Second Test as it is now important for India to win this Test.

Mukesh Kumar was spotted bowling to Rohit Sharma and in between had a chat with the Indian skipper asking him about his inswinger. Mukesh could be heard asking, “Bhaiya Ball Andar Aaya Kya? (Did the Ball Come In?)” to which Rohit replied “Hawe mei nahi ghuma, dheeme dheeme andar aaya(It did not swing in the air, came in gradually)”

Watch- Rohit Sharma Giving Tips To Mukesh Kumar In The Nets

Rohit Sharma could be seen giving some tips to Mukesh Kumar during their small chat at the nets. Rohit had a terrible outing with the bat in the first Test as he got out to Kagiso Rabada in both innings on scores 5 and 0 respectively. It was Rohit Sharma’s first duck in the World Test Championship history. He has been India’s top run-getter in WTC but his performance in South Africa has been terrible.

India has never won a Test series in South Africa and they have also lost the chance this time as South Africa is already ahead by 1-0 in a two-match series. India needs to win the second Test to ensure a draw and increase their PCT at the WTC Points table. The first Test was a disaster for Team India and they would have to manage the damage in the second Test. The second Test will be played at the Newlands in Cape Town. India will look forward to the second Test and will try their best to avoid a series defeat against the Proteas.
