Rescuing the Indian team, wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson hit his maiden ODI ton in the third SA vs IND ODI match, which is being played at the Boland Park in Paarl. Samson, who played an innings of 108 runs off 114 balls gave a perfect answer to his critics who were trolling him for his underperformance.
Sanju Samson completed his ton on the sixth ball of the 44th over, showcased his muscles, and celebrated his maiden ODI hundred. Before this, Samson faced a lot of trolling from the netizens when he got out for 12 runs in the second match of the series.
Sanju Samson’s cricketing career has not been easy as he has not been getting many chances and he has failed to capitalize on the opportunity that he has received. Samson has been in and out of the team and now with his first ODI hundred, he will look forward to cement his place in the team.
Questions were raised on the Indian cricket team selectors when they dropped Sanju Samson from the squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup squad. Samson was picked as a backup player in the Asia Cup 2023 but was later sent back when KL Rahul returned.

As he was traveling with the Indian team to Sri Lanka for the initial few matches of the Asia Cup, Sanju Samson was not able to sign a county deal. Samson was also neglected from the Asian Games squad and Ruturaj Gaikwad was named as the team’s captain.
Getting back to the match, the Indian cricket team didn’t start off well as debutant Rajat Patidar was dismissed for 22 runs off 16 balls whereas Sai Sudharsan was only able to score 16 runs after two consecutive half-centuries. KL Rahul also didn’t do much and got out for 21 runs.
It was Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson who added 116 runs off 136 balls for the fourth wicket wherein apart from Samson’s hundred Tilak hit 52 runs from 77 balls.
The Indian team will be aiming to put up a decent first innings score and aim to win the series against the Proteas. The ‘Men in Blue’ won the first match played in Johannesburg single-handedly whereas, the Proteas showcased a dominant show in Port Elizabeth in the second match of the series.
The Indian team have been dominant in the white ball format so far in the year 2023 and also played the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Indian team were ruthless throughout the tournament but were not able to pass the last hurdle and lost to Australia in the final.
The Indian team will be playing a two-match Test series starting from December 26 against the Proteas and later move back home to play against Afghanistan for a T20I series.
With the T20 World Cup all set to take place next year, the Indian team will be aiming to end their ICC title drought and bring back the trophy once again after 2007.
