Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram gave a staggering answer to why Pakistani bowlers can’t bowl like Jasprit Bumrah. He said that the Indian pacer is one of a kind and there’s no one like him in the entire world.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the mainstay of the Indian bowling of lineup for the last few years. The pacer has brought his A game in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 and is one of the main reasons behind India’s dominant run in the tournament.

Jasprit Bumrah has made a valiant contribution to his team in almost every game in the tournament. He’s currently the third-highest leading run-getter in the tournament with 14 wickets to his name from 6 games. Not only with the new ball but the pacer has chipped in at crucial stages of the game.

During a discussion on A Sports, Wasim Akram was asked by a fan about why Pakistani pacers can’t replicate Jasprit Bumrah. Replying to this, he admitted that it’s a difficult question to answer but pointed out that bowlers from his country play very longer-format cricket.

Wasim Akram pointed out that if bowlers are not able to trouble batters in Test cricket then it’ll be difficult for them to fox batters in ODIs. He elaborated:

“It’s a very difficult question to answer. Bumrah is like one of a kind. Nobody in the world is bowling like Bumrah right now, same with Pakistan’s bowlers.

“Our bowlers play very longer-format cricket, while Bumrah plays Test cricket too. After comeback from injury, he is playing one-day cricket now, but he also plays Test cricket and is equally successful there.

“If you are not taking wickets in longer format, bowling tough lines then it becomes difficult to fox batters in ODIs too, especially during the 10-40 overs period. That’s where the problem is.”

Moin Khan, who was present there during the discussion pointed out that Jasprit Bumrah’s action also helps him to be successful. He stated: “His action is also not conventional and odd, which also definitely helps him.”

Wasim Akram was on the same page with Moin Khan and highlighted how he has full control over his bowling with unconventional action. He stated:

“To have control over deliveries with the unconventional action – bahar, ander, pace, yorker, bouncer.”
