Team India inched closer to clinch the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka after the visitors ended the second day of the Pink-Ball Day-Night Test at 28/1 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
India blew away Sri Lanka’s batting as their bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah claimed his Test career’s eighth five-for after he ended with figures of 5/24 to fold up the visitors’ first innings at 109. Indian batters Shreyas Iyer (67) and Rishabh Pant (50) scored stupendous fifties to shoot up India’s lead to 446 in the second innings.

IND vs SL: It was quite challenging: Hanuma Vihari on batting on the challenging wicket
Hanuma Vihari, who scored 35 runs off 79 balls in the second innings for India, said it was a challenging wicket for the batters to play and credited his teammates for their audacious batting display in both innings. The Indian batter also said that Sri Lanka will have an arduous task of batting on the third day of the Pink-Ball Test.

“It was quite challenging, any ball can get you out; it was that kind of a wicket. I thought we batted well in both innings. The way we bowled as well. It was tough to bat on and it will be challenging for them (Sri Lanka) tomorrow as well,” Vihari told the official broadcasters at the end of the gameplay of the second day.
“I knew which ones to play and which ones to leave. I got a good ball in the first innings, but I think in the second innings, I could have batted with more patience and could have got that big one. Nevertheless, I was pretty happy with the way I was batting,” he added.
It was easier to bat against the spinners under lights: Hanuma Vihari
Vihari, who hit three boundaries against Lasith Embuldeniya during his innings, said that it was quite easy to play spin bowlers. Interestingly, Vihari was also cleaned up by Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama.
“It was easier to bat against the spinners under lights because of the dew, but in both the innings, it was quite challenging. I knew the areas where I could score on this wicket and waited for those deliveries,” Vihari said.
Sri Lanka need 419 runs to win with nine wickets in hand to level the Test series. India won the first Test by an innings and 222 runs in Mohali.
