IND vs SL: KL Rahul’s Century Against Pakistan Was More Important- Aakash Chopra

Indian commentator Aakash Chopra feels that KL Rahul’s century was more important than Virat Kohli’s ton during the IND vs PAK clash of Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul slammed his century after making a comeback to the national team after almost five months.
KL Rahul shattered an unbeaten 111 runs in the match against Pakistan off 106
deliveries. He stormed 2 sixes and 12 boundaries during his knock. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 122 runs to win the player of the match award.
KL Rahul’s Century Was More Important Than Virat Kohli’s Ton: Aakash Chopra
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that KL Rahul’s century was more important in the match because Rahul was picked at the last moment.
“Kohli’s century was important but KL Rahul’s century was even more important because KL Rahul was not going to play this match at all. It was a disaster that a guy got injured, that’s Shreyas Iyer, and he suddenly got a chance,” Aakash Chopra said.
He Is A Quality Player: Aakash Chopra
Shreyas Iyer got injured just before the match during warm-up. Rohit Sharma revealed during the toss that Rahul was informed that he was part of the playing XI just five minutes before the match. Aakash Chopra reckoned that this is the reason why the right-handed batsman is often termed a quality player.
“Learn from this player how to turn a calamity into an opportunity. He hit a six against the spin after dancing down the track off Shadab Khan’s bowling. That six shows why this team invests so much in him and why we say as a broken record that Kamal Lajawab Rahul is a quality player,” the cricketer-turned-commentator further said.
Meanwhile, India defeated Pakistan by 228 runs in the Asia Cup 2023 clash, which took place over two days. India piled up a mammoth 356-2 in 1st innings, thanks to centuries by Kohli and Rahul. They also etched a 245-run partnership.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 58 and 56 respectively. During the chase, Pakistan were bowled out for 128 in 32 overs. Now, India will play two more games in the Asia Cup 2023- against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in their final game. They earlier defeated Bangladesh in their opening match of Super Four by 7 wickets.
