Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson praised ace Indian batter Virat Kohli for his remarkable record in run chases in the 50-over format. Shane Watson emphasized that Virat Kohli’s centuries led to India’s victories, unlike Sachin Tendulkar in terms of game outcomes.
Virat Kohli is currently representing the Indian team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The batter smashed his 48th ODI hundred against Bangladesh. He narrowly missed the opportunity to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record as he was dismissed for 95 against South Africa.
Virat Kohli Is Doing Nothing Short Of Supernatural – Shane Watson
In a recent conversation with The Times of India, Shane Watson pointed out Virat Kohli’s remarkable record in ODI chases. Watson highlighted Kohli’s high average of 65.49 in chases compared to Sachin’s average of 42.33.
“Sachin was outrageously good but when Virat has scored 27 centuries in chases India have won more often than not. Kohli’s average in chases (65.49) is higher than Sachin’s (42.33). Maybe the victory ratio has a bit to do with the teammates also – the players Sachin were playing with might not always have done enough to take India to victory when he scored a century. But what Virat is doing is nothing short of supernatural,” Shane Watson told TOI.
I Had Never Thought Of Achieving All – Virat Kohli
In a conversation with Star Sports, Virat Kohli acknowledged that he had dreamt of success but never expected to score numerous centuries and runs over his 12-year career.
“If we talk about cricket, I had never thought of achieving all, as in where my career is and how god has blessed me such a career span and performances. I had always dreamt I’d do this, but I had never thought thing would pan out this way exactly, nobody can plan these things, the way your journey is going, and the way things unfold in front of you. I hadn’t thought that I’d score so many hundreds and so many runs in these 12 years,” Kohli told Star Sports.
Virat Kohli will be seen in action when the Men in Blue take on Sri Lanka in their upcoming match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, November 2. He scored 354 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 88.50, including three fifties and a century.
