Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah gave his teammates a real scare as he twisted his ankle early on in the innings. There was some discomfort visible on his face as he clutched his ankle and went out of the field to change his pair of shoes.
After India were bowled out for 213, Bumrah opened the bowling for India to defend the total. He bowled his first three balls right in the channel. However, he twisted his ankle as he delivered the fourth delivery of the first over. After the over he quickly changed his pair of shoes.
Bumrah’s teammates and the support staff breathed a sigh of relief to see him running onto bowl again in his next over and provide India the first breakthrough. He got Pathum Nissanka to edge the delivery to the keeper KL Rahul who completed a nice catch.
Bumrah, who returned to the Indian team for the Asia Cup, missed the match against Nepal due to the birth of his son. However, he was back for the Super 4 match against Pakistan and bowled brilliantly. He bowled five overs and picked up a wicket including a maiden. He bowled with pace and got the ball to swing as well.

Meanwhile, India were bowled out for 213 against Sri Lanka. They lost all 10 wickets to spin as Dunith Wellalage took a fifer and Charith Asalanka, the part-time spinner took four. Maheesh Theekshana picked 1 as well.
India were well placed at 80 for no loss when they lost the first wicket on that score. However, when the Lankan spinner dismissed the Indian top-order in back-to-back overs, it opened the floodgates for the Lankan bowlers.
“I want to thank my coaches and management especially my spin bowling coach. I tried to bowl my normal variations and not give runs. My dream wicket was Kohli’s wicket. The surface is uneven and it is not easy but we have a good batting line-up, we will give a good fight,” said Wellalage on his spell during the mid-innings break.
