IND vs USA: Axar Patel reveals how he and Rohit Sharma plotted Imad Wasim's dreadful end vs Pakistan

Indian all-rounder Axar Patel revealed his bowling and batting plans against Pakistan on Chahal TV. Axar Patel opened up about batting at no.4 for the Team and his bowling tactics against Imad Wasim during the India vs Pakistan match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024. 

India defeated Pakistan by 6 runs in their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. India defended a 120-run target against Pakistan with a marvelous bowling show in the 2nd innings.  

Axar Patel played a key role with both bat and ball. The left-handed batter added 20 runs off 18 balls and also got 1 wicket. He leaked just 11 runs across his 2 overs.

Post India's victory against Pakistan, Yuzvendra Chahal interacted with Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj, and Rishabh Pant on Chahal TV after their impressive performance. Notably, Pant scored the most 42 runs for India while Siraj also added a crucial 7 runs off 7 balls including 1 wicket. 

Chahal, who is one of the spinners in India's squad in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, asked Axar Patel about his bowling and batting plans during the match. Below is their conversation.  

Yuzi: "Bapu, first tell us, when you found out you were going to be No. 4th in batting, what did you plan? How did you plan?" 

Axar: "I didn't have a chance to plan when I found out I was going to be 4th. When I went to bat, it was easy for me. Our captain wasn't telling me anything about cricket". He was just joking around. He knew I would be a little easy. And he kept telling me something about every ball. So I also talked a little and it became a little easier. So that was the planning and nothing else".

Yuzi: "And tell us about the bowling that you overtook Imad. How did you plan that?" 

Axar: "The plan was that I don't want to give in his range. I don't want to get a sixer in the mid-wicket. Because the wind was also going that way. So I talked to the captain, Rohit Bhai, that I will put the ball on the cut, give me two minutes".

Yuzvendra Chahal did not play in the India vs Pakistan match

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal was not part of India's playing 11 in the clash against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma went ahead with three full-time pacers and two spin all-rounders in the match. 

Pacers Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj led the pace attack while spin all-rounders Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja took the reins of the spin department. Hardik Pandya was the 4th seamer for India. 

Jasprit Bumrah helped the team to win the match with his 3-wicket haul and won the player-of-the-match award. Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are two full-time spinners in the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
