Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra praised left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav for his brilliant delivery to dismiss Rovman Powell in the fourth T20I against the West Indies. Aakash Chopra highlighted how Kuldeep Yadav completely outfoxed Rovman Powell with a well-executed googly.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets and conceded just 26 runs in his four overs in Lauderhill, Florida, on Saturday, August 12. The Windies were restricted to 178/8 in their allocated 20 overs. In the run chase, the Men in Blue achieved a comprehensive 9-wicket victory in the penultimate match.

Rovman Powell Played The Wrong Line – Aakash Chopra

Speaking to JioCinema, Aakash Chopra said that batters often struggle to read the ball from the bowler’s hand in T20 era, leading to difficulties in facing deliveries like the googly.

“The ball to Rovman Powell deceived him. He (Kuldeep) bowled a googly, he got trapped and played the wrong line. He was playing the ball in Guyana and the ball was in Florida, and Shubman Gill was standing in the slips, who doesn’t do anything wrong on an Ahmedabad-like pitch,” Chopra told JioCinema.

“T20 cricket has given a lot of things but has probably taken away one thing from the batters. He is from the West Indies, you take it with a little pinch of salt in any case, but the batters rarely pick the ball from the hand. That is why you see a lot of batters getting flummoxed by the googly,” he added.

Rovman Powell managed to score just 1 run off 3 balls before being dismissed by Kuldeep. However, the Windies skipper has impressed with his batting in the ongoing series, tallying 110 runs in four matches with an average of 35 and a strike rate of 150.68.

Nicholas Pooran Bats In The Fifth Gear – Kuldeep Yadav

Aakash Chopra pointed out that Nicholas Pooran could have handled Kuldeep Yadav’s spell better, as his aggression resulted in losing his wicket to the left-arm wrist spinner.

“It looks like you are playing with Nicholas Pooran’s mind, that you have held back Kuldeep Yadav for him. It is actually a broadcast message, everyone knows it that Kuldeep will be brought once he comes, a fielder will be placed in the deep and what will you do?”

“He has the option of either playing a big shot or rotating the strike against him and hitting someone else. But Nicholas Pooran has just one way of playing. He bats in the fifth gear. He got out stumped in the last match. He connected in this match, so he was caught in the deep.”

The series decider between India and the West Indies is scheduled to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida on Sunday, August 13.
