Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for his impressive batting performance in the first Test match against the West Indies. AB de Villiers said that he recognized Yashasvi Jaiswal as a special talent when he watched him for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Yashasvi Jaiswal made his Test debut in the first Test, where the visitors registered an innings and 141 runs victory in Dominica. He’s Got Time When He’s Playing – AB de Villiers
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers highlighted Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s exceptional batting skills, stating that he has a lot of time to play the ball. De Villiers said that Jaiswal has the ability to dominate both pace and spin bowlers.
‘It’s not every day that a youngster comes out in a Test match in his very first game and scores a hundred. The very first time I watched him play in the IPL, I thought there’s something really special,” de Villiers said.
“You can always look at the guy and how much time he has while facing the ball. He’s got time when he’s playing. The pace of the ball is not going to bother him. Even when he’s playing spin, it looks like he’s got time,” he added.
Very Happy To Watch Him Score A Hundred – AB de Villiers
The former South African skipper expressed delight in witnessing Jaiswal’s century in his debut Test match and described him as a promising prospect for Indian cricket in the future.
“He just looks like he’s got time to make decisions while other players might seem rushed. He’s a very talented youngster and hot prospect for the future for India. I am very happy to watch him score a hundred in that first Test match,” he concluded.
The 21-year-old has also been named in the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against the West Indies. The southpaw was also included in India’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games, scheduled to be held in September 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
