The cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has issued a massive ‘Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’ warning to the West Indies National Cricket Team ahead of Day 5 of the second Test at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
West Indies have been given the target of 365 runs to chase to win the Test and level the series 1-1. On Day 4, Ashwin dismissed his bunny Kraigg Brathwaite (28) and debutant Kirk McKenzie to reduce the hosts to 76/2 at the end of the play and they still need 289 runs to win.
Speaking to Jio Cinema, Aakash Chopra spoke about the potential threat of Ashwin and Jadeja that West Indies will face on Day 5. He elaborated:
“Ashwin has already picked up a couple of wickets. Jadeja, on a Day 5 surface, is always a threat. So, I expect them to bowl a lot of overs in tandem in the second or the third session if the game goes that far.
“[That’s] because the Indian team will also start thinking about the number of overs remaining and how many overs they can get in because these two spinners can actually put in their overs in double quick time. So, yes, expecting a few wickets from them.”

I once again expect them to block a lot of deliveries – Aakash Chopra on West Indies
Aakash Chopra added that the Kraigg Brathwaite-led side will have to play attacking cricket if they have victory on their mind. He added that he is expecting West Indies to be overly defensive with the bat on the final day. He said:
“It depends on what they’re actually thinking about. If they want to win this game, then they have to play a slightly aggressive brand of cricket. But if they’re just thinking of drawing this game, they view it as a victory, then more of the same. That’s what they have done.
“So, I once again expect them to block a lot of deliveries and wait for loose balls to score runs. Not a great strategy, but that’s what West Indies is likely to do.”
Aakash Chopra while talking about the surface for the second Test between India and West Indies said that it has no demons in it. Aakash Chopra said:
“This pitch is not your conventional Day 5 surface, which is deteriorating really fast. It is a surface where if you apply yourself as a batter, there are no demons in it. Maybe, one good ball once in a while, but that should actually not give you sleepless nights.”
