IND vs WI: "Can't Get An Explanation For It": Abhinav Mukund Slams Hardik Pandya On Yuzvendra Chahal Not Bowling His Final Over In 2nd T20I

India batsman, Abhinav Mukund expressed his feelings on Yuzvendra Chahal not bowling his final over against West Indies in the second T20I match on Sunday (August 06) at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
While speaking on Jio Cinemas post-game, the 33-year-old batsman said that he is baffled after seeing Yuzvendra Chahal not coming to deliver his last over. Mukund said that Chahal should have gone with another over and tried to close the match especially when the opponent had Alzarri Joseph on the crease.
“I can’t get an explanation for it because 10 times out of 10 you would have gone with another over from Chahal and tried to close out the game there, especially with Alzarri Joseph there. I understand the left-hander is still there, but you got Hetmyer out in the previous over, bowling a full one. You have the bigger boundary to deal with,” Mukund said on Yuzvendra Chahal.
Mukund spoke on the decision to bring Arshdeep Singh in place of Chahal since he is India’s strike bowler. The -year-old also added that Mukesh or Arshdeep could have bowled the last over depending on the runs.
“I was just a bit baffled by that decision to go back to Arshdeep because he is your strike bowler. If you wanted to bowl him, you could have had him bowl the 19th, left the last over to Mukesh or even brought Arshdeep for the final over, depending on the number of runs,” Mukund added.
Yuzvendra Chahal brought India back into the game with his amazing spell
In the second inning of the match, Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets and gave 19 runs in his three-over spell. He also had an economy of 6.30.
However, the stand-in captain Hardik Pandya was not pleased after the batting performance of the Men in Blues in the first inning. Hardik also added that the batsmen should take more responsibility because of the new combination.
“If am being honest that was not a pleasing batting performance, we could have batted better. 160+ or 170 would have been a good total. With the current combination we have we will have to trust out top 7 batters to come good and hope the bowlers win you games. We have to find ways to make sure we have the right balance but at the same time batters need to take more responsibility,” Hardik Pandya said after the second consecutive defeat.
The Men in Blues lost the second T20I match by two wickets. India went to bat first and gave a target of 153 runs after Tilak Varma played a stunning knock of 51 runs in 41 balls. However, the visitors could not defend the target.
