Team India beat the West Indies by five wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Kensington Oval in Bridgeton on Thursday, July 27. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav credited Yuzvendra Chahal after receiving the Player of the Match award in the series opener.
India won the toss and opted to bowl first in Barbados. Indian fast bowlers Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur made the most of the surface and picked up early wickets. Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav contributed four wickets.

We Enjoy Each Other’s Company – Kuldeep Yadav
During the post-match presentation, Kuldeep Yadav said that he is lucky to have a senior player like Yuzvendra Chahal in the dressing room.
“It’s always good to have competition, we just try to work together. When you have a senior like Chahal, it helps you and he gives a lot of advice as well. We enjoy each other’s company,” Kuldeep said.
Kuldeep was selected in the playing XI, while Chahal remained on the bench. The left-arm spinner troubled the West Indies batsmen with his variations, taking four wickets in just three overs, including two maiden overs.

The 28-year-old opened up about his bowling partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, stating that he thought the wicket was seamer-friendly. He went on to say that the turn and bounce helped them pick up more wickets.
“Perfect, the fast bowlers bowled really well with Mukesh, Shardul and Hardik. Me and Jaddu were brilliant, we hit the right lengths which is what was necessary on this wicket,” he further stated.
“I’m just focusing on my rhythm, hitting the right lengths and it has been very nice. I thought it will be a seaming paradise, we are happy we got 7 wickets from our side. It was spinning a bit, and there was bounce as well,” he concluded.
The Men in Blue bowled out the opposition for just 114 runs in 23 overs. The visitors chased down the target in 22.5 overs with five wickets to spare. Ishan Kishan, who was promoted in the batting order, shone with the bat, scoring 52 runs off 46 balls.
