IND vs WI: "I Am Just Mind-Blown" - Robin Uthappa Criticizes Hardik Pandya's Captaincy In 2nd T20I

Former India batsman Robin Uthappa criticized Hardik Pandya’s captaincy decisions in the 2nd T20I match against West Indies on Sunday (August 06) and said that he is just mind-blown after seeing his calls in the match.

While speaking on Jio Cinema, the 37-year-old attacked Hardik Pandya and asked why Yuzvendra Chahal was not given a chance to bowl his fourth and final over of the match even after taking three wickets (one run out) in the 16th over.

“I have one expression – one Gen-Z expression for this moment – ‘pooof’ and not in a nice way. I am just mind-blown by how when a guy gets you three wickets in an over essentially you don’t bring him back for another one and kind of close the game completely,” Uthappa said on Hardik Pandya.

Uthappa further praised Chahal and said that he knows how to dismiss a lower-order batsman, and also said that there was a mistake on Hardik Pandya’s side while making a call.

“The likes of Alzarri Joseph are not going to contend with the experience and class of a Yuzi Chahal. He knows how to bowl to these lower-order batsmen, he knows how to get them out. And Akeal Hosein is not gonna take him on, not at that point with three overs to go. He would have backed himself with two overs to go perhaps, not three overs to go. So, you knew there was an error in judgment there,” Uthappa further added.

Hardik Pandya-led India yet to win a match in the T20I series Vs West Indies

The Men in Blue experienced their second consecutive loss in the five-game T20I series against West Indies after suffering a two-wicket defeat against the Caribbeans in the 2nd T20I match.

India came to bat first and gave a target of 153 runs after Tilak Varma played a stupendous innings and scored 51 runs in 41 balls with a strike rate of 124.39. Varma hammered five fours and one six in the first innings.

However, the bowling attack failed to defend the target in the second innings. Hardik Pandya, the skipper scalped three wickets in his four-over spell and gave away 35 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal managed to take two wickets in his three-over spell and gave away 19 runs.
