IND vs WI: "IPL Gives You An Atmosphere Similar To International Cricket" - Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 27 wickets in IPL 2022 and 21 in IPL 2023. The veteran spinner is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history and ahead of the second T20I in Guyana spoke about the benefits of playing IPL before making an international debut for India.

The comments came after Tilak Varma made a confident debut in T20I cricket in the first game scoring 39 in the match and trying his best to take India to a win.

The southpaw started his international cricket with two back-to-back sixes showing no signs of nervousness or fear. Throughout his innings, he played positively which was one of the most important aspects of his game.

Ahead of the second T20I, Chahal spoke about Varma’s debut game and how IPL played its part in making him match-ready for international cricket.

” I have played a lot against him. When he came to Mumbai Indins in 2022, I bowled a lot against him and he plays spin really well,” Chahal said about Tilak Varma.

He then went on to speak about how the IPL plays its part in grooming young players before they make their international debut for India.

“With IPL you get an encironment similar to international cricket. Because everything is crowded you play with international players. When you perform well at the IPL, you get a boost of confidence and then when you play internationally you dont feel the pressure that you have to play with so many people. You just have to execute what you have already learnt in the IPL in international cricket.”

The second T20I in Guyana might see a few changes in the playing XI from India. Shubman Gill has been struggling for form in this series and there is a possibility that Yashasvi Jaiswal might make his T20I debut for India. He made his Test debut earlier in this tour.
