Former wicketkeeper-batsman, Parthiv Patel spoke on how Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Nicholas Pooran in the 15th over of the first inning against West Indies in the third T20I match of the five-game series on Tuesday (August 08).
While speaking on Cricbuzz, Parthiv Patel discussed Nicholas Pooran’s dismissal by Kuldeep Yadav and praised the bowler for understanding the Caribbean’s batting and changing his bowling length, and increasing the pace which helped Yadav to take Pooran’s wicket.
“Kuldeep Yadav’s double-wicket over was the turning point in the game. One over before, he was hit for a six and a reverse hit by Pooran. He had to change his length, he was bowling slightly full. But, when he came into the bowl the next over, he quickly understood that and pulled his length back, and increased the pace and that did not allow Pooran to reach the ball well. I thought he outfoxed him really well,” said Parthiv Patel on Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling style.
Parthiv Patel lauds Kuldeep Yadav
Patel continued to applaud Kuldeep Yadav for his attacking mindset and for not bowling defensively after being hit by Pooran and that is why he got the wicket of the 27-year-old West Indies batsman.
“Once you get hit by someone as dangerous as Pooran, you might go into a defensive mindset, but Kuldeep did not. He went for Pooran’s wicket and he got success doing that,” added Patel.
While talking about India’s seven-wicket win over the Caribbeans, Parthiv Patel lauded India’s attacking mentality and how the spinners delivered in the powerplay of the first inning.
“I thought India were spot on with their planning. They used spinners really well, Spinners bowled four overs in the powerplay. Batting-wise, I thought the approach was brilliant, you may get out while trying to attack from the start, but that happens. I think this should be the way forward for India,” the former India player further added.
Hardik Pandya-led India will take on Rovman Powell’s West Indies in the fourth T20I match of the five-game series on Saturday (August 12) at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. The match will kick off at 8:00 PM IST.
