The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj bowled an exceptional spell on Day 4 of the second Test against Kraigg Brathwaite-led West Indies National Cricket Team on Sunday, July 23 at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

At Stumps on Day 3, the hosts were at 229/5 in 108 overs with Alick Athanaze  (37) and Jason Holder (11) unbeaten at the crease. On Day 3, Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie were batting cautiously and were looking to score big. However, debutant Mukesh Kumar broke their partnership by dismissing debutant McKenzie.

After losing his partner, Brathwaite continued batting with the same intensity. With the way he was batting a big innings was on the cards and something special was needed to stop him and Ravichandran Ashwin did exactly that. Ashwin bowled an off-spinner’s dream delivery to bamboozle the West Indies skipper.

Meanwhile, on Day 4, Mohammed Siraj looked in some hurry as he destroyed the West Indies batting lineup quickly to wrap up the innings. He bowled terrific lines and lengths and troubled the West Indies’ lower order.

Mohammed Siraj started off the carnage by dismissing the star all-rounder Jason Holder in the 110th over. Then he dismissed Alzarri Joseph in the 112th over, before cleaning up Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel on back-to-back deliveries to bowl out the hosts for 255 in the 116th over and get an amazing 183-run lead for India.

Mohammed Siraj ended his spell with the figures of 23.4-6-60-5 and this was his best bowling figures in an innings in Test cricket. Before today’s spell, Siraj had registered his best spell of 5/73 at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Former India National Cricket Team batter Wasim Jaffer led the praise for Mohammed Siraj on Twitter as he hailed the pacer for bowling a brilliant spell on the flat surface.
