IND Vs WI: 'Nicholas Pooran Has Failed To Pick Kuldeep Yadav'- Former India Batsman Speaks On Nicholas Pooran's Knock In 4th T20I Match

Former India batsman, Wasim Jaffer recently called out how Nicholas Pooran has been struggling against the Indian chinaman spinner, Kuldeep Yadav and has failed to score runs against him in the ongoing five-match T20I series.

In the fourth T20I match, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Nicholas Pooran in the seventh over of the first inning.

Kuldeep dismissed Pooran in his first delivery of the match, the Caribbean batsman tried to send the ball over the long-on but due to lack of power, it lands on the palms of Suryakumar Yadav and had to leave the crease after scoring just one run from three balls.

Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets in his four-over spell and gave away 26 runs which helped the Indian bowling attack to keep a check on the target.

In the second inning, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman made a strong partnership of 165 runs and helped the Men in Blues to clinch a nine-wicket win against West Indies.

While speaking to ESPNcricinfo,  Jaffer said that Shimron Hetmyer should have performed well in the fourth T20I match since he already has faced these bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Jaffer further praised him and said that he is a dangerous player and good finisher.

“I am a little surprised because he (Shimron Hetmyer) is a quality player. He has played all these bowlers in the IPL and has done well. I am a little surprised that over a period of 6-7 games, he hasn’t shown his form. But I expect him to come good. He is a good finisher, he plays spin well, and when he gets going, he is a dangerous player.”

Wasim Jaffer further added that West Indies batsman, Nicholas Pooran suffered against the Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav and sometimes against Yuzvendra Chahal throughout the T20I series.

“When he (Nicholas Pooran) comes in to bat, usually either Kuldeep Yadav is bowling, or Yuzvendra Chahal is bowling, or both of them bowling at the same time. In T20 cricket, you can’t afford to have one or two relatively quiet overs. So he has to take his chances, and that’s where his downfall has come. He has failed to pick Kuldeep Yadav throughout the series. He struggles against Yuzvendra Chahal as well,” Jaffer told.

India will square off against West Indies in the fifth T20I match on Sunday (August 13) at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Florida.
