Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim hailed Rohit Sharma for the intensity and aggression he showed in India vs West Indies Test series. Saba Karim also feels that Rohit Sharma sent a strong message to his team about his leadership strategy going forward.

Rohit Sharma came up with a rocking batting show in IND vs WI Test series. Smacking 1 century and 2 half-centuries across three innings, he piled up 240 runs in the series. The right-handed batsman also led India to a 1-0 victory in the first Test series of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

Saba Karim Lauds Rohit Sharma For His Intensity And Aggression In IND vs WI Series

While speaking on Jio Cinema, former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim heaped praises on Rohit Sharma for his batting and leadership skills in IND vs WI Test series. The 55-year-old said Sharma’s decisions in 2nd Test revealed his hunger to win the match.

“In the first Test, the wicket was not easy to bat and Rohit got a hundred. Some of his decisions, bringing Ishan Kishan in the mix and all these showed that Rohit wants to win this time around,” Saba Karim said.

After gaining a 183-run lead after 1st innings, Rohit Sharma scored 57 runs off 44 balls in 2nd innings. He also advised his team to bat at a higher strike rate, so as to set up a massive total for West Indies quickly.

“I would go with Rohit because this was a fresh WTC cycle and he had to lead from the front. The intensity and the aggression he showed sent a strong message to the rest of the side that this is the way you want to take it forward,” Karim further added.

Reaching 181-2 in 2nd innings, India declared their batting to set up a gigantic 365-run target for West Indies. Notably, Ishan Kishan arrived to bat at no.4 and shattered a quickfire unbeaten 52 off just 34 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

However, India failed to win the 2nd Test in Trinidad as the rain did not allow even a single over on Day 5. At 76-2, West Indies needed 289 more runs for victory while India had to crush 8 wickets. Due to the rain, the match ended in a draw.

However, India managed to win the series 1-0 as they won the opening game. The visitors won the IND vs WI 1st Test by innings and 144 runs. Both the teams will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series, which begins with the first game on July 27 (Thursday).
