The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday (13th August) lost their golden tick on social media platform X (Twitter). It created a lot of news and made many think about why the status of the governing body was taken away.

This happened after BCCI accepted the request from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he urged every Indian to change the profile picture of their social media accounts to that of an Indian flag to celebrate Independence Day, which is on 15th August.

As BCCI changed their profile picture, their golden tick was removed and the reason behind that has been mentioned in the guidelines of the X. According to it blue tick will for a verified user will be removed each time the profile picture is changed. The guidelines also suggested that it takes three to four days to restore after the organization takes a review of the account.

This means that BCCI will be getting their status on the X back before the Ireland tour kick starts. The team will be playing three games on their tour, starting 18th August and the team will be captained by Jasprit Bumrah, who will be making his comeback after nursing an injury.

Notably, BCCI lost their golden tick ahead of the ongoing fifth T20I against West Indies. The series currently stands at 2-2 and the competition between bat and ball is staggering in the ongoing game.
