West Indies captain Rovman Powell expressed delight with his team’s performance during the second T20I against India in the ongoing five-match series. Rovman Powell highlighted that the team management planned to limit the impact of the two-leg spinners in the opposition’s bowling lineup.

The West Indies secured a second consecutive win against India, marking their first back-to-back victories since 2016. The Men in Maroon defeated the Men in Blue by two wickets at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, August 6. The hosts chased down the 153-run target with seven balls to spare.

Hopefully, We Can Keep Winning – Rovman Powell

Speaking After the win, Rovman Powell revealed the reason behind his strategy to rotate his bowlers throughout the innings.

“It is a very good position to be in. Hopefully, we can keep winning. We always knew it was going to come down to how we batted against spin,” Powell said.

“Shows cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties. I realised that whenever batters go at the bowlers, they don’t go at the first over. I tried to eliminate that and gave my bowlers one-over spells, especially fast bowlers, because it is very hot.”

Nicholas Pooran Shone With The Bat In Run Chase

Earlier, the Hardik Pandya-led team put up a total of 152 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Tilak Varma, who impressed in his debut game, smashed his maiden half-century in international cricket. He scored 51 runs off 41 balls, while others struggled to score on the surface.

Hardik Pandya picked up two wickets in the first over of the Windies innings. However, Nicholas Pooran showed aggression from the start and put the Indian bowlers under pressure. Pooran played a blistering knock of 67 runs off just 40 balls, including six fours and four sixes.

Yuzvendra Chahal brought the visitors back into the game with two wickets, restricting the opposition to 128-8. However, Chahal didn’t bowl his next over in the match. Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph formed an unbeaten partnership of 26 runs to complete the run chase.
