While speaking on Jio Cinema, cricketer-turned-commentator Saba Karim hailed Snaju Samson for his amazing knock in IND vs WI 3rd ODI. The former wicketkeeper-batsman said that Sanju Samson is a gifted player.

“Sanju Samson is an enigma for me. He bats so well. He is a gifted player. Today, his innings was like a whiff of fresh air. He said that his intent was to go out and be aggressive.

The way he handled the leg-spinner, who was looking quite good at that point in time, was so refreshing to watch. This is what Samson is capable of,” the 55-year-old said.

The former right-handed batsman also pointed out that Samson has not got many chances in the past and was only picked when regular players were unavailable. He also said that Samson can play at any batting position, which makes him a perfect team man.

“Sanju Samson has not got a series of chances. He has got in only when your regular players have been rested. It’s not been an easy journey so far. But the fact remains that Sanju is still raring to go.

You send him at No.3, he is more than happy. You send him at No.4, he scores a fifty. You send him down the order.. he is always there as a perfect team man. This is a just reward for Samson’s persistence to be in the reckoning in the ODI squad,” Saba Karim further said.

In the 2nd ODI, Sanju Samson was sent in at the No.3 position. He failed to score runs with the bat, getting out for just 9 runs off 19 balls. However, he scored a brilliant half-century after taking his regular no.4 spot in the 3rd ODI.

The Rajasthan Royals skipper showed a consistent performance in ODIs last year, hitting 234 runs in 9 games at an average of 71.0 and 2 half-centuries. Due to an injury, Samson was ruled out after a T20I game in January this year. He made a comeback to the national team in the ongoing IND vs WI ODI series.
