Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa praised Hardik Pandya after criticizing him in the last game for not utilizing Yuzvendra Chahal’s over. He said that even MS Dhoni made mistakes during his time and the all-rounder looks at captaincy from a progressive point of view.

Indian captain Hardik Pandya was criticized a lot for his poor tactics in the second T20I against West Indies. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a game-changing 16th over but after that, the skipper didn’t give him the next over, which proved costly and the team lost the game.

After that, Robin Uthappa criticized Hardik Pandya for his decision and said that he was mind blown by how when a guy gets the team three wickets (one run-out) in an over and essentially the captain doesn’t bring him back for another one.

But now he backed Hardik Pandya, saying that humans make errors and he will also make some. Speaking on Jio Cinema, he remarked: “To err is to human. He will make some errors. Even someone like MS Dhoni did make mistakes. There were errors in judgement in his leadership when he led the country. But Hardik is someone who looks at captaincy from a progressive point of view.”

IND vs WI: You cannot expect that transition happening immediately – Robin Uthappa defends Hardik Pandya

Robin Uthappa while defending Hardik Pandya further said that people should give time to all-rounders and transition won’t happen immediately. He explained:

“We have seen him lead only in IPL thus far and in international cricket, it will be a little bit of a journey. You cannot expect that transition happening immediately. You have to give him some time and acknowledge that all these players are playing a white-ball game after the IPL so there has been a bit of a break..”

India are currently 2-0 down in the series as they displayed poor performances in the first two games. They would be hoping to make a rollicking comeback as a loss would mean they lose the series for the first time in 17 years to West Indies.
