IND vs WI: Suryakumar Yadav Praises Tilak Varma After His 49-Run Knock In 3rd T20I, Says 'He Is Mentally Very Strong'

Suryakumar Yadav, who played a stunning 83-run knock against West Indies in the third T20I match on Tuesday (August 08) which helped India to clinch their seven-wicket win over the Caribbean has praised Tilak Varma for his magnificent knock in the last three matches and said that he is a star.

While speaking in the post-match presentation after the third T20I against West Indies, Suryakumar Yadav applauded the 20-year-old Tilak Varma and said that at his age, Varma is showing a lot of maturity.

Meanwhile, SKY said that he has batted with the youngster in Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Mumbai-based franchise and even there Tilak showcased a quality performance.

SKY further praised him and said that Tilak Varma is a star and that the youngster is very clear in his mind.

“I feel Tilak Varma for his age, he is showing amazing maturity, how he batted with me. We have played together earlier in the IPL. He performed great there as well and now here at this stage to show such maturity in only your third game. I think all credit goes to him, his hard work. That he has put in so far, I hope he continues it. Tilak Varma is a star, he is very clear in his mind,” Suryakumar said while praising the 20-year-old.

Suryakumar Yadav further added that the Mumbai Indian (MI) star player knows the game and is mentally very strong and also added that it is needed when someone joins the Indian cricket dressing room.

“Most importantly, he knows his game very well. What he wants to do when he comes into bat and today also he was very clear about what he wanted to do and he is mentally very strong, that’s the most important thing. What you need when you come into an Indian dressing room and you play at this level, that’s the most important thing and he’s come strong,” SKY added.

Tilak Varma played an extraordinary inning against West Indies and made a strong partnership with Suryakumar Yadav which helped the Men in Blues to chase the 160 runs target in the third T20I match.
