Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli smashed a half-century in his 500th appearance in international cricket against the West Indies in Trinidad on Thursday, July 20. Virat Kohli achieved this feat during the second and final Test of the ongoing two-match series.
The Rohit Sharma-led team was asked to bat first after losing the toss at the Queen’s Park Oval. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma added a 139-run partnership for the first wicket in the first innings. However, the visitors lost four wickets in quick succession in the second session on the opening day.

Virat Kohli steadied the innings by adding an unbeaten 106-run partnership for the fifth wicket with all Ravindra Jadeja. The right-handed batter smashed his 30th half-century in the longer format of the game. He remained unbeaten with 87 runs at the stumps on Day 1 of the second Test.
Virat Kohli became the fifth-highest run-scorer across all three formats in international cricket. The former skipper surpassed Jacques Kallis, who had scored 25,534 runs in 519 matches across formats. Kohli achieved a remarkable milestone in his career during the third session of play.
Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 34,357 runs in 664 matches, leads the chart of highest run-scorers in international cricket. Former cricketers Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Mahela Jayawardene are next in line with impressive run totals in their respective careers.

The veteran batter represented India in 274 ODI matches. He amassed 12,898 runs at an average of 57.32, including 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries. He scored 4,008 runs in 115 T20Is at an average of 52.73, making him the leading run-getter in the shorter format.
