West Indies National Cricket Team spinner Akeal Hosein brought out his trademark celebration after hitting the winning runs in the second T20I against Hardik Pandya-led India National Cricket Team at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, August 06.

Chasing the target of 153 runs, West Indies were off to the worst possible start as they lost two wickets in the first over itself while Kyle Mayers was dismissed inside the powerplay.

It was once again Nicholas Pooran, who brought back the momentum towards his side with his brilliant half-century. West Indies were in a prime position to seal the victory at 126/4. However, they lost back-to-back wickets and were reduced to 129/8.

After that, Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph took responsibility and added 26 runs in 17 balls to guide their side to victory. Akeal Hosein hit the winning runs for his side as he smashed Mukesh Kumar for a boundary on the second last ball of the 19th over. After hitting the winning runs, the spinner looked satisfied and he brought out his trademark ‘shut the noise’ celebration as the West Indies dugout erupted in joy.

Although Akeal Hosein finished the game for West Indies, the victory wouldn’t have been possible without Nicholas Pooran’s batting masterclass. Nicholas Pooran scored brilliant 67 runs off 40 balls, with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

He also won the Player of the Match award for his heroics. Speaking after the match, he said that he is working hard to become a consistent performer for his side. Pooran added that he always aims to finish the games for West Indies and entertain the fans.

“Satisfied that I performed. Something that I have been looking for in the last couple of years, so be there and finish games. I want to be consistent. I have been working so hard, I have made a lot of mistakes, and lost a lot of games for my teams. I want to entertain the fans as much as possible. It’s about being positive and confident,” Nicholas Pooran said.
