Rishabh Pant might not be playing in the ongoing Test between West Indies and India but Ishan Kishan made sure that fans of the wicketkeeper-batsman. The left-handed batsman was involved in a scary car accident in December last year and has been on the sidelines since then.

In his absence, India have been relying on KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan for the wicketkeeping duties. Bharat was the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman during the home Test series against Australia and the World Test Championship Final against the same opposition last month. During that time, Ishan Kishan was warming the bench in the dressing room.

Ishan Kishan finally got the chance to make his debut in the ongoing series against West Indies and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. In the first Test, he could not do much with the bat but impressed one and all with his wicketkeeping duties.

In the ongoing second Test, Ishan Kishan has impressed with the bat too. After scoring 25 off just 37 balls in the first innings, the southpaw smashed a whirlwind fifty in the second innings. Promoted to bat at number four, he smashed 52 off just 34 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.

And as Kishan was busy taking West Indies to the cleaners, he reminded the fans of Rishabh Pant not only because of his aggressive playing style but also the bat he was playing with. An image of the wicketkeeper-batsman’s bat went viral showing that he was batting with a willow that had letters ‘RP17’ written on it.

Ishan Kishan also reached his fifty in style. The left-handed batsman smashed a huge six to complete his maiden fifty in the longest format of the game.

Both Rohit and Kishan smashed the fifties to help India reach 181/2 in their second innings, while the Indian captain had scored 80 runs in the previous inning. The ‘Hitman’ had scored a century in the first Test.

Kishan had managed to score just a single in 20 oddballs in the previous match, being urged by Rohit to score quickly as India had declared in a similar fashion to the second Test.
