IND vs WI: Watch- Mukesh Kumar Gets Emotional As He Talks To His Mother After Making Test Debut

Mukesh Kumar’s journey in the game so far is very inspiring. After overcoming several challenges in his life, the right-arm pacer finally achieved his dream of playing for Team India this week.

After warming the bench for the first Test, Mukesh Kumar found a place in India’s playing eleven for the ongoing second Test in Trinidad. Last month, he earned his maiden call-up from Team India for the ongoing Test series as well as the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.

Mukesh Kumar was rewarded by the selectors for toiling hard in domestic cricket for years. The pacer is known for bowling long spells and his ability to extract movement off the pitch. He has picked up 149 wickets in 39 First-Class games so far at an average of 21.55. He was instrumental in Bengal making it to the Ranji Trophy final in 2019-20 and 2022-23.

In the last Ranji Trophy season, Mukesh Kumar picked up 22 wickets before taking five more wickets in Irani Cup. The 29-year-old also has a good record for India A. He has picked up 18 wickets for India A at an average of 17.50 and five-wicket hauls against New Zealand A and Bangladesh A.

Emotional Mukesh Kumar talks to his mother:

As Mukesh Kumar received his maiden Test cap in West Indies, he made sure to call him mother in India. In a video posted by the BCCI on their official Twitter handle, India’s latest Test player could be seen having an emotional discussion with his proud mother.

“My mother told me to stay happy all the time. Keep moving forward. She said her blessings are always with me. For her, all that she wants me to do is keep improving and getting better. This moment is very important for me. I can’t explain how happy I am. I made the debut in the morning and in the evening, I am talking to my mother. I am not able to understand what to say,” an emotional Mukesh Kumar said after talking to his mother.
