Batting great Sunil Gavaskar was felicitated by the West Indies legend Brian Lara at the Queen’s Park in Port of Spain, Trinidad, where the second Test of the series between India and West Indies is taking place. On the occasion of the 100th Test, the former Indian skipper was greeted. 

Sunil Gavaskar shared the video of him getting facilitated on his social media accounts. Queen’s Park Cricket Club members gave him a special memento on the occasion of 100 Tests between the team. The batting great can be seen happy with the ceremony and also shared pictures on his accounts. 

Sunil Gavaskar captioned his Instagram post: “With the ‘Prince of Trinidad’, Brian Lara, and Nigel Camacho, president of QPCC, after the lovely felicitation by Queens Park Cricket Club in Trinidad. My home away from home. Much love and gratitude to my West Indian fans.”

Sunil Gavaskar has been a prolific run-getter against West Indies. In 27 games he has scored 2749 runs at an average of 65.45. He also smashed 13 centuries against them, which is the most by any batter. Apart from this he also has registered 7 half-centuries.

IND vs WI: Rahul Dravid Shares His Verdict On Historic 100th IND vs WI Test

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid talked about the 100th Test match between India and West Indies. He said that the passion of fans makes his rivalry special. He revealed that even when he walks across the islands in the Caribbean, fans remind him of his heroics. Speaking in a video posted on  BCCI’s social media accounts, he said: 

“India vs West Indies is always going to be special whether they played here or in an India. I think what really makes it special is the passion of the fans both in the subcontinent and even here for Test cricket. Fans, even if they are not able to come to all of the games they truly love their Test cricket and you can feel it around the islands. 

“Everywhere you go people speak to you about Test cricket, I find it amazing. I think love and passion for the games in this island and India will always make this contest and rivalry special. The game has always been played in really good spirit between the teams and I hope that continues.” 

So far in 99 games, West Indies have an upper edge as they have won 30 games whereas India have bagged 23 games. The competition between the teams has been this much high that 46 games have ended in a draw as well. The Indian side haven’t lost a series against the opposition since 2002.
