Indian Head Coach, Rahul Dravid, has congratulated Virat Kohli before his special day in the IND vs WI 2nd Test. Virat Kohli will be achieving a major milestone in his illustrious career on Thursday (July 20) when he takes the field for the second Test against West Indies in Trinidad. He will join the elite club of legendary players who have played 500 international games.

The former India skipper will become just the fourth Indian and tenth overall cricketer to reach the mark of 500 international caps. The first three Indian players to achieve this stunning feat are legendary Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and current India head coach Rahul Dravid. Tendulkar retired after playing 664 matches while Dhoni and Dravid played 538 and 509 games in international cricket respectively.

Having made his debut in international cricket in 2008, Virat Kohli has been one of the best batsmen of his generation for more than a decade now. In the past, he held the top position for the batsman in ICC rankings across all the formats and is still a force to reckon with.

Apart from Tendulkar, no other player in the history of the game has scored more international centuries than Virat Kohli. The India batting superstar has scored 75 tons so far and looks good to add a few more to the tally. Kohli has an average of more than 50 in both the white-ball formats while his average in Tests is almost 49.

Rahul Dravid on Virat Kohli’s achievement:

Ahead of Virat Kohli’s milestone game, his former India and IPL teammate and current coach Rahul Dravid has come up with a heartwarming message. In a video posted on BCCI’s Twitter handle, Dravid hailed Virat Kohli’s achievement and said that it is a reflection of his hunger, passion, desire, and supreme fitness.

”It’s a terrific achievement to play the number of games that you have played. It’s a reflection of lot of things. It’s a reflection of your ability, it’s a reflection of your adaptability, it’s a reflection of your fitness, it’s a reflection of your desire, it’s a reflection of your hunger, it’s reflection of how passionate you are about the game,” said Rahul Dravid.

“So many things come into this when you talk about longevity because you slip up on any of these areas and probably you won’t be able to have a career as long as Virat has. That’s really impressive. His performances and just the way he’s been able to play all the three formats and being able to adopt to all the three formats of the game

“Maintain such a high standard in all the three formats, maintain his fitness, maintain his desire, maintain that hunger. He’s been thrown so many challenges, different kinds of bowlers, different kinds of skills he’s had to display. And if you wanna play as long as he has and put in those kinds of performances, you need to tick all of the boxes,” he added.
